About the Author
Alexis Heflin lives in Huntsville where she enjoys her family, friends, and church. She has two grown sons, John and Rick, who were only five and four years old at the time of their father's disappearance. Her husband, John Lloyd “Buddy” Heflin, disappeared more than forty-five years ago.
Valerie Leary earned a master's degree in language arts and has more than twenty years of experience as an English teacher. She, her sister Teresa Leary McLendon, and her aunt Alexis Heflin have collaborated to tell Buddy Heflin's story. Leary lives in Huntsville with her dog, Edgar Allan Poe.

I knew Buddy Heflin road the school bus with him and his sister Wille Mae often wondered what happened to him. I also worked @ Thompson's Café at the same time that Lena Hamilton worked and knew he boyfriend Bill Leary My last name was Mitchell
I will keep up with this case on-line and I hope that God will answer ur prayers as to what happened to Buddy. God Bless you and your boys

intriguing story

Mississippi Whispers is an intriguing story about a wife and mother's relentless efforts to discover the truth behind her husband's murder in Mississippi. Being from the south, I was shocked to learn about the secrecy by law enforcement and witnesses concerning the disappearance of this young man. It suggests a cover up, but for what reason? The author continues to seek information concerning the tragedy these many years later. An underlying story shows a very strong, loving mother and wife who wants answers to the most basic questions about the violent loss of her husband. I found myself being drawn into this mystery, and trying to conjecture what might have occurred. I only hope that through the book, someone will come forward with important information that might lead to answers.

40 year-old cold case now being investigated

Someone in Mississippi knows what happened to this young man in 1968. The author Alexis Heflin is trying to find out to bring closure for her two sons.
"Moxy" is an ironic choice for your name because you obviously have neither courage nor determination to dismiss this book based on its price. Unless "Moxy" means bitter, jealous or mean-spirited you need to change your code name...
